Waverley Antique Bazaar

Had a great day of thrifting over the weekend with fellow Blogger
and new friend Pippa of 'Ouchflower'!

Turns out we both shopped at the our local retro/vintage store
aka The Man regularly, but had never met or crossed paths.
Then Michael (The Man) put us onto each others blogs, and I
became a regular visitor to OuchFlower.

And after bumping into eachother one day at The Man,
Pippa and I decided to book a date and head out for some thrifting together!

Our chosen stop on our first trip was the
Waverley Antique Bazaar
11a Aristoc Road, Glen Waverley
Open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm.

pic found here

The Bazaar is located in a huge warehouse full of fantastic retro and
vintage goods - for the most part priced really, really well.
The Bazaar opened in October 2011 and now houses over 130 stalls.

It was a blistering hot day but we put in a good 2 hours
of seeking out treasures in the warehouse.

True to form, I purchased a few floral themed pieces.

So today I am linking in with Pippa from Ouchflower.
Please follow the link & pop over to see the wares she picked up on our thrifting expedition, and check out the rest of her lovely blog while you are there!

Here are a few pics of my purchases from the trip...

Luckily there were 2 of these gorgeous plates, so we bought one each.
Floral mugs which I am now planning to hang on hooks from a
shelf above the kettle.

Floral tin and wall hanging just coz.

Marquise shaped Tigers Eye ring. My favourite purchase of the day.
At least, I think it's Tigers Eye. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
(Are you feeling the garden stone? I couldn't get the ring to sit
well on the bench so I needed a prop.)

And this awesome chemistry flask/come vase was a gift to me from Pippa!
Nabbed some greenery from the garden for this shot.
Hope I did it justice Pippa : )

Highly recommend a trip to the Waverley Antique Bazaar if you are in Melbourne. And I also recommend a date with Pippa.
She bought me lunch - hoorah!!
Thanks for a great day Pippa. Next lunch is on me : )

70's Happy Camping Snaps

Fantastic photos belonging to Dave Hoefler from his set titled
'The 70's' on Flickr, of Dave's mum and dad on camping trips circa mid 1970's.

Great colours, beautiful scenery and a brilliant orange
VW Beetle belonging to Dave's dad that I would give my eye teeth for.

Many thanks to Dave for allowing me to share his families photos here.

Freaky Friday - Mixed Bag of Freakiness

Gold! I want one.

The photographer forgot his soft lense.
"Just step back into the foliage Britt, yes that's great,
perhaps even a few steps further back..."

Monkey Magic.

Mullet magic.

The hair piece!
I'd keep my distance from that lamp Mattie
or that puppy's going to go up like a torch.

Retro Ball Chair

This fabulous Ball Chair belongs to my lovely friend Hayley.
Top chick and pretty decent ping pong player too!

The chair was an eBay purchase 5 years ago - what a find!
Hayley has a house full of retro and vintage goodness,
so I feel a full house tour may be on the cards very soon.

Love the colours in this photo.
Great pic Hayley : )

Endless Summer by Hannah Katarski

I was very lucky to come across these fantastic photos by Hannah Katarski,
an artist living in Fremantle, Western Australia.

These pics are from her set titled 'Endless Summer',
a 12 week holiday surfing around the world.

These particular photos have a great vintage vibe which I love.
Amazing shots with great texture and colours, taken in beautiful locations.

You can see more of Hannah's great Photography over at her Flickr page here, or check out Hannah's blog The Crystal Voyager.

Many thanks to Hannah for allowing me to share her beautiful photos here : )

PoP! Goes My Heart

In the film Music and Lyrics (2007), Hugh Grant plays Alex Fletcher,
an 80's pop star 'has been' from a band called PoP!

The opening scene of the movie is the film clip to PoP!'s
big 1984 hit 'PoP! Goes My Heart'.

The clip still makes me laugh, and the song sticks in my head for days.
Incidentally, Hugh Grant does his own singing throughout the entire movie.

Freaky Friday - Karen & Carl

You had me at Quiche Lorraine Carl.
The jewelry making is just a bonus.

On a side note...
Did you know there are 3 different ways to spell Jewelry, Jewellrey, or Jewelery? Just depends on what country you hail from as to what spelling you use.

True story...and helpful if you ever find yourself in a spelling bee in a foreign land.

Retro Beach Retreat - South Australia

Came across this very cool 1950's built holiday house in South Australia
called the 'Aldinga Beach Retreat'.

With it's cool 50's themed interior, large backyard for BBQ's and kids to enjoy, and a stones throw (one house back) from Aldinga Beach - it looks like the perfect way to spend a few lazy weeks one summer.

House is available to rent here.

Le Sausage

Le Sausage is bringing the tastiest gourmet sausages
to the good people of Melbourne, in the funkiest red food truck around!

The truck itself was originally owned by the NSW fire brigade,
who had maintained it beautifully all it's life. It already had a kitchen inside,
and was used by the fire brigade as a food truck -
taken to fires to feed the firemen and women on site.

Given that the truck was already in such good condition when purchased,
Le Sausage only had to make a few restorations to update the kitchen.

The fabulous Retro Pin Up artwork was created for Le Sausage
by a close friend of the owners - she is a looker!

Le Sausage is available for functions, events, and parties etc.

For more information you can check out Le Sausage website here
or head over to their Facebook page here for schedules and info.

Y.U.M.!

All photos from Le Sausage Facebook page - thanks guys!

Freaky Friday - Awkward Family Photos

Yes, it seemed like a super fun idea at the time.

A family that Trek's together, stays together.

As does the Ghostbusters family.

A denim nightmare.

Jazz hands!!

Sweet Jesus - pack it up mum. It's over.
