Bubble Gum

Image - Native Thoughts

Hubba Bubba or Bubble Yum brand?

For me it had to be Hubba Bubba - Grape flavour.
Hubba Bubba Grape was softer to chew, kept it's flavour & blew the best bubbles.

So as a bonus to this post, I went to YouTube searching for a few clips of awesome Bubble Gum Bubbles in retro films, and found two channels completely dedicated to Bubble Gum with 5-10 sec clips from various films.
I love the Internet.

So I picked a few of my favourites...

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Boring Economics Class scene

Grease - Beauty School Drop Out scene
(this may be the best bubble ever!)

Grease 2 - Stephanie Zinone
(I have a real thing for Grease 2. I have loved it since I was little and enjoy it
more than the first movie. Bold statement I know, but there - I've said it.)
Michelle Pfeiffer had a cool way of sucking her bubbles back in before they popped.
Hard to do - try it next time you whip out the bubblegum.

So what was/is your favourite flavour?
Grape, Strawberry, Cola, Original?
Are you any good at blowing bubbles?

Lily Thread - Vintage Ad

I'm not much of a seamstress. I can't sew, knit or crochet.
(Good thing I know wonderful, creative folk who do!)

In fact, the memory of my high school textiles classes fill me with
the kind of dread normally reserved for visits to the dentist.

However, I really love this Vintage Ad for Lily Thread circa 1970.
I love the colour, the patterned jumpsuit with it's flared legs and her gorgeous hair.

I think this ad would look great poster size, featured on a door or wall.

p.s. I may not be able to sew, but I make a mean chocolate pudding.

'Dream' Songs Quiz

Got to thinkin' lately about how many songs there are about 'Dreams' from retro days gone by.

So, like my previous Telephone Song Quiz, I've put together a collection of photographs
and added the song lyrics & lines from 10 different songs that feature the word 'Dream'.

Can you name the artists/bands who sang the following 10 songs
featuring the word 'Dream' in the title or lyrics?

Got some 60's, 70's, 80's and even a 50's hit in the mix!

Answers at the end .
Good luck!

How'd you go?
Easy? Too easy?

Freestyle Frisbee - Ken Westerfield

Note: Had some technical difficulties with the original Freestyle Frisbee post.
It was one of my current faves, so I'm very happy to now re post it and share it again
Huge thanks to Ken for his patience and assistance against the dark side of the Internet.

(Pairs Freestyle Frisbee, 1974 Canadian Open, Toronto, Canada).

You can read more about Ken's pioneering contributions to Frisbee Sports here,

Many thanks to Ken for allowing me to share some of his fantastic photographs from the 1970's!

I also found this great short clip from the late 1970's narrated by Barbara Feldon
(Agent 99 - Get Smart), showcasing the talent and rise of Frisbee as a sport.

And a more recent (2009) short clip of two guys playing Freestyle Frisbee on the streets of Paris.
These guys are awesome!

Freaky Friday - Leopard Print Magic

Sun's out!
Comb the mullet, slip into that leopard print one piece and let's hit the beach!

Can't help but cast my memory back to Mr 'Leopard Print Perfection' who starred
in a Freaky Friday segment in May 2012.

Rip Curl Pro - Vintage Posters 1973 - 1982

The first Rip Curl Professional event back in 1973 paved the way for professional surfing in Australia.
The cash prizes may have been small, but by the following year, surfers from all around the world were coming to compete in the event.

Here is a selection of the original posters used to advertise the
Annual Easter Surfing competition from 1973 - 1982.

(Not essentially a poster - but the only image provided for 1978.
Looks like it may be a scan of a t shirt from the 1978 event).

(The Rip Curl logo from 1978 & 79 is my favourite.)
