A League of Their Own - 1992

Directed by Penny Marshall, A League of Their Own is the fictional story of two sisters Dottie (Genna Davis) and Kit (Lori Petty) recruited to play for the real - life
All American Girls Baseball League during 1943.

With most of the able men in America away at war, the All American Girls Baseball League was created to make money and keep baseball in the public eye.

Tom Hanks plays Jimmy Dugan, Manager of the Rockford Peaches and former Professional League baseball player who lost his career to alcohol.

The Cast of 'A League of Their Own'.

The real 'Rockford Peaches'.

Two of my favourite clips from the film...

1) No Crying in Baseball

2) Who is Lou?!!

Jimmy is woken by Miss Cuthburt, the Rockford Peaches chaperone.

  3. Hi Pippa! Great minds think alike eh? Great flick. And hi Simmone! I think Geena Davis was perfect in this role as well. Especially when she catches that fast ball from Madonna with her bare hand! (Stick it Madonna!) Another of my favourite scenes in this film.x

  4. "A League of Their Own" was the movie that introduced me to watching/reading sports books/movies. I loved how the movie wasn't just about sports... it was about friendships and camaraderie- which is why I think I am addicted to this genre. My latest read in this genre is "SportsFan Chronicles" written by Kurt Weichert, a fun, story about two friends who purchase a football team, and the first in a series of fictional comedies.
