The Karate Kid 1984

"Daniel-san!"

The Karate Kid - one of my all time favourite 80's films.
The kind I watch EVERY single time it's on TV - even though I've seen it 100 times before.

This clip is a great turning point in the movie, and I think one of the best scenes in the film.

After days of completing what he believes to simply be chores, Daniel confronts
Mr. Miyagi about his lack of Karate training and learns not everything is as it seems.

  1. I bet my daughter watched this movie 100 times in rapid succession when it came out on VHS. I think the only one she watched more was Annie.

  2. This is a great movie. I don't believe my son has seen it. I think he needs to. It is raining, great idea!

  3. We love this movie too! We have the first 3 on dvd. "Daniel son" and "wax on-wax off" are quoted too often 'round here as well. Hubby is a big Elizabeth Shue fan,ha.

    1. Hi Simmone, I didn't mind the Next Karate Kid either with Hilary Swank. (But I'm a sucker for any film where the underdog comes good.)
Elizabeth Shue was gorgeous in this first film. Another of my favourite quotes from the film is "Finish him!" (I often use this in doubles table tennis).x

  4. That jump kick at the end is legendary, it's up there with the Death Star being blown up by Luke, and the scene where Indiana Jones uses a gun instead of his whip. By the way, it's 'Daniel-san', not 'Daniel son'.

  6. Hey there, Donna! Though link doesn't have a whole lot do with The Karate Kid, I thought you'd love the similarities some of the photos bear to the ones you posted for the Retro Cookoff.

Apparently, it's still cool in some circles to make meat cakes; http://theberry.com/2012/11/20/the-turkey-gone-bad-breakdown-30-photos/
