Oahu, North Shore 1972

I am crazy about the work by photographer Nick DeWolf from the 1970's.

These are a few of my favourites from the set titled 'Oahu 1972' on Flickr,
featuring North Shore surfers, spectators and photographers.
You can check out my other post featuring Nick DeWolf's photographs
of a skateboarding event in Aspen 77' here.
It's one of my all time favourite posts here at Hung Up On Retro.

Many thanks to Steve Lundeen and Maggie DeWolf for allowing me
to once again share Nick's brilliant work here.

  1. Love love love. Have you seen my pics from the 50's in my bathroom? Got them at a shop in Broadbeach years ago and they are like a little time capsule. These pics are fabulous! I remember my sister had that exact hair...parted in the middle and sun-kissed. These need to be printed out and proudly hung!

  2. Great photos Donna, I especially love the first one. There's something about the colour of those boards against the grey sea. I reckon there's a touch of Puberty Blues about those girls, it's the first thing that popped into my head when I scrolled down and saw them.
Funnily enough we are off to Wave Rock for a picnic today (it is exactly as its name suggests) I'll post pics on my blog soonish.
