Vintage Clothing, Jewellery & Textiles Show

Expo Hall, Melbourne Showgrounds Ascot Vale
27-29th May 2011
presented by
Love Vintage

One of my best friends Jenny came across details for this Vintage show (nice one Jen!), and we checked it out this weekend.

The Vintage expo has been showing in Sydney for the last 5 years, but this was the first time in Melbourne, and it was fabulous!
Just under 50 exhibitors had all their glorious vintage treasures on show and for sale.

Everything from furniture, jewellery and fabrics, to buttons, perfumes, patterns and magazines. The standout for us though would have to have been the gorgeous vintage clothing. Gorgeous dresses, shoes, coats, scarves, ties and much more!

There were also several demonstrations on the main stage area over the course of the 3 days. We caught the morning session of the 'Lindy Charm School for Girls' demonstration of Vintage Makeup & Hairstyle Techniques.

So, a great day and really good value for $14 entry which includes all the demonstrations on the main stage (except the private lessons and makeovers).
We are already looking forward to next year!

Great idea in the Op Shop Guide Victoria Book (pictured above). Alphabetically lists Victorian Op Shops with easy reference guides to locate and shop for your own vintage treasures $24.95. www.opshopguidevictoria.com.au

Chokito Chocolate Bar

What better way to combine my 2 fave things, Retro and Chocolate for my first post: The Chokito bar is back baby!
The good people at Nestle saw something in this old 70's fave and decided to relaunch the Chokito in 2010. Slightly altered packaging, a new logo and a new and improved recipe (Gone is the compound chocolate used in the 70's bar). Chokitos have a glorious caramel fudge filling, surrounded by rice crispies, smothered in creamy milk chocolate - heaven! So, while I generally agree that the original is always best, in this case, Nestle have outdone themselves improving on a 70's classic. Mmmmmm, Chokito. Grab one today!
