retrospect with Jason from ihatepeacocks.com

From left back: Darth Tom, The Roman, Operative X & Front: NosajMunson (Jason)

Abit of a step out of the realm with something different today!

When I had been blogging for about six months,
Hung Up On Retro got a shout out from a site called ihatepeacocks.com.
This was (still is) a massive deal for me. It was so great to know that someone (other than my mum) in the Internet universe had not only stopped by my blog, but thought it was OK enough to give
it a nod! Huge!

So who are ihatepeacocks.com?
ihatepeacocks.com are based in Colorado USA , run by Jason (Nosajmunson) and the crew
consisting of The Roman, Operative X, Agent OlmTreeHomeSted & Darth Tom.
(Hey man, if you can't have an alias online, where can you have one?)

The guys love Star Wars, all things Sci Fi and update their sites almost daily with Internet funnies, music clips, movie stuff and anything from the world wide web that they dig.
Something I also like about their site and Facebook page is in amongst the funnies, humour,
language etc. they'll post a pic or a story about something they are passionate about.
To quote part of their 'About' info on their Tumblr page -
"..we want to see the world become a better place for everyone"
and well, that spells good people to me.

So, I had an idea of asking Jason a few questions as part of a retro flashback -
or 'retrospect' if you will, to which Jason kindly agreed, so here we go!

Freaky Friday - Lemmy

They say when it's right - you just know.
That's how it was for Lemmy and I.

I'm thinking of making a calender of the men of Freaky Friday for my friends this Christmas.
So many men, so few months in the year.

Happy Friday!

Freaky Friday - Jumpsuit Jive

I dig a dude in a jumpsuit.

Ad reads...

"Their heads are together. He cares for the good things of life. He's an achiever.
He's confident. He likes his clothes smooth, sexy, comfortable - masculine.
The 'Do Anything' jumpsuit goes to party, bistro, patio or pad.
She makes the right decisions about her man, about her looks, about her clothes.
The 'Do Anything' jumpsuit of SuperSuede Plus fits like a glove...tough looking, but soft as a kitten.
Designed by Jumpsuits Ltd for people like you."

Happy Friday!

Original vs Remake: Dolly & Whitney

Following on from my first Original vs Remake the End Dance Scene of Footloose here,
I thought we might do a song for this round:
Dolly Parton & Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You".

Dolly wrote the song and released it in 1974. Her version is really beautiful and heartfelt.
Whitney recorded the song as a big ballad for The Bodyguard soundtrack released in 1992.

I cried my eyes out at the movie theatre when Whitney sang this song at the end of
The Bodyguard.
I'm not talking a little tear running down my face.
I'm talking sobbing, choking, had to 'bury my face in my jumper' kind of howling.
Not quite sure what brought on the tears - was it the scene, the song, The Costner or perhaps
just the drop in sugar levels from the bag of Maltesers, and SuperSize Coke I had consumed earlier?
Perhaps we'll never know.

So while both versions are great and original versions are generally hard to beat,
I have to go with Whitney and The Bodyguard on this one.

Remake for me.

Your thoughts - Original or Remake?

1976 Photography - Goodbye Party

Fantastic photographs by Deborah Lundbech on Flickr.

The set shows Deborah and friends enjoying some good times at her going away party
in Springfield 1976, before Deborah left for overseas.

"The party was originally named my goodbye party, but got co - opted
by Vegetable (John - nice guy) who renamed it 'Vegetables 1976 Bi-Centennial Boogie'.
It lasted four days."

- Deborah

Many thanks to Deborah for allowing me to share these fantastic photos here.
(This is Deborah in the first photograph. Such a gorgeous picture - I love it.)

Freaky Friday - The Cabin Crew

30,000 feet - the perfect altitude for Space and Fashion to collide...

The girl on the left looks as confused as I am.

Will there be a circus mid flight?

Finnair have plenty of legroom.

Crew enjoying an after lunch service smoko.

Bit of YMCA to get the passengers moving.

And just general tomfoolery...

Goodbye & please fly with us again.

Happy Friday!
