Retro & Vintage Inspired Corner of my Home

After the fun Kylie of Lucy Violet Vintage and I had with the Retro Food Blog Link In -
we thought it was time to team up again for some link in fun!

We would love you to share a photograph of your favourite
Retro & Vintage Inspired Corner of your home.
A spot that perhaps houses your favourite pieces of furniture,
thrifted wares, or just a corner of your home that you love.

I love nothing better than gaining decorating inspiration from magazines and blogs - seeing how people put rooms together and successfully mix retro pieces into their home.
And with Kylie ploughing through her Interior Design course and sharing some of her styling shots along the way, we thought we might put the call out to see if our other blogging, thrifting, retro, vintage & industrial loving friends might be willing to share a corner of their home too!

This is part of my favourite corner of my home in the pic above (I needed the white wall to lay the text on for the poster). It has my record player and albums, orange Braemore jug, cane magazine rack (all thrifted from 'the man'), and of course Pippa's Ouchflower tassels to add some za za zoo.
I'll post an expanded photograph to show more of my favourite corner of my home on the day. (My photography skills are clearly limited...but we'll give it a red hot whirl!)

No blog? No worries!
Please email through your photograph to either Kylie or
myself before the link in, and we will post your photographs in our blog posts
on 'link in' day (we'll list your first name only, and State or Country with the pic).

We hope you'll join in the fun 12pm Midday, Sat 11th May 2013.

Freaky Friday - Keytar Dreams

Brian liked to walk his own path & insisted on playing his Yamaha like a "Keytar".

And before we head into the weekend, let's celebrate Brian and the Keytar,
with a clip from Aussie music legend John Farnham's "Whispering Jack" tour in 1987.
I recently purchased the "Whispering Jack" LP on a thrift trip, and it's been on
high rotation ever since - such a great album.
Song is "Playing to Win" from John's days as lead singer of Little River Band.
Nice little Keytar solo in there!

Happy Friday!

Freaky Friday - Guys and Dolls

Not the Broadway Musical kind,
just the deliciously, creepy, freaky, album cover kind...

Spot the doll...

Happy Friday!

Suzi Quatro - LAX Airport 1974

More great 1970's photography from Nick DeWolf.
These photographs capture the Suzi Quatro fan club ready to greet Suzi and her band
at LAX Airport in 1974 (from the set titled reel #56 - California 1974 on Flickr here).

I am a huge fan of Nick DeWolf's photographs - particularly his work in the 1970's.
I love how well he captured everyday people, and I never tire of viewing his beautiful images.

Many thanks to Steve Lundeen, who is archiving Nick's work on Flickr,
and to Maggie De Wolf for allowing me to share more of Nick's fantastic photographs here.

Freaky Friday - Retro & Vintage Knitwear

I may not know much about fashion, but I know a good woolen garment when I see it...

And for the men, we have our favourite Roger Moore lookalike knitwear model from
'Poolside Purple' a few weeks back, to show us what a good pattern, some patience
and pure woolen magic can look like.

Getting testy here Roger? Toward the end of the shoot?

End of day drinks - one of many by the look of him.

Happy Friday!

Monday Music Pick - "You Might Think" The Cars

The Cars won Video of the Year for "You Might Think" at the 1984 MTV Video Music Awards.
It was a one of the first music videos of the era to incorporate computer graphics.

The single also featured in the 1985 Rob Reiner film 'The Sure Thing' starring John Cusack
and is included on the movie soundtrack.
