Retro Carafe & drinking glasses

Some recent purchases from 'The Man' & Vinnies...

...a Carafe (from The Man) & three glasses (Vinnies) with a raised fruit vine pattern.
Although they are not matching, I think the Carafe and glasses go quite well together. Don't you?

The carafe did have a great little white lid that sat in the top, but I managed to break it (still in the shop!) with my bionic strength so it went in the bin : (

It's a shame there was only three of these glasses...

Ready for some Pimm's, or maybe Mojitos (Em?!) on Melbourne Cup Day!

Freaky Friday - Creepy little girl

This little 'Bride of Chucky' girl completely freaks me out.
Looks like she's gearing up to gnaw off her mothers hand.
Evil. Pure evil.

60's Suburb Sign

This suburb sign is located in a nearby neighbourhood.
It catches my eye every time I drive past, so I stopped and took a few shots.

A long grey stone curved wall, with simple lettering for the suburb's name.
Perfectly 60's - which is when the estate was first built.

Roller Boogie 79'

Any movie or album with the words 'Roller' or 'Boogie' in it grabs my attention
- but to have them both in the same title is EPIC!

How can I not have seen this movie?
Roller skaters who fall in love, battle mobsters to save their roller rink
from closure, and compete in a roller boogie contest at the end?! Gold!

I'm off to trawl online now to find it!

Growing Pains Theme Song, Daughtry & Neon Trees

'Show me that smile again, Oooohhh show me that smile...'
Ahhh, this takes me back! What a great TV theme song this was.

Growing Pains ran from 1985-1992, and the shows theme song
'As long as we've got eachother' featured in the intro of each season,
though in several different versions.
This version by B.J. Thomas & Jennifer Warnes is my favourite...

And it seems I'm not the only one who fondly remembers this tune.
Whilst pottering round on YouTube (as you do), I found two other
versions of the theme song.

The first is by Dane Cook (Comedian & actor) and Chris Daughtry
(lead singer & guitarist of rock band Daughtry) hamming it up...

And the second is by rock band Neon Trees, discussing what they loved about the 80's, and belting out abit of the Growing Pains theme for iheartradio.
Love it!

I love me abit of 80's reminiscing.
They just don't make theme songs like they used to.

Retro Apartment

Chris of Thrift Store Addict on Flickr, has an apartment filled with fabulous retro finds. I envy the lamps, the cushions, the clocks, the pottery, wall prints - the lot!
All the furnishings were purchased for $10 and under (with the exception of modern electricals etc) and were found at rummage sales, thrift stores/op shops
and junk piles. Amazing!
Many thanks to Chris for letting me share some shots of his apartment
and great finds here.
Enjoy!

Amazing wall hanging - $1.00!!

Genie telephone $1.99. Arrrrhhhh! Awesome.

Jug 75c & salt & pepper shakers 20c each!!!
Cheap and cheerful op shopping finds have just been taken to a new level.
