Marc Cohn - Walking in Memphis

Released in 1991 from American singer-songwriter Marc Cohn's self titled album, 'Walking in Memphis' reached number 11 on the Australian Aria Charts
and number 13 on the American Billboard charts.

Cohn won a Grammy award for Best New Artist the following year.

The song has been covered by several artists including Cher,
American Country band Lonestar, & American singer-songwriter Skott Freedman.

But it's the original I love,
and still hear consistently on Melbourne radio today.

This is a fantastic live version circa 91'/92'.
Just Marc and his piano - brilliant.

  1. I have wonderful memories of a trip my late husband and I took to Memphis ten years ago or so. That song always reminds me of being there with him.

  2. Glad it brings back some good memories Dana. Funny how music or a song can transport you to a certain place in time.
Be great to one day visit Memphis and stroll down Beale Street.x

  3. Love that song. Followed him up to the gates of Graceland and I watched him walk right security, they did not see him, they just hovered round his tomb, and there's a pretty little thing, waiting for the King, down in the Jungle Room..! love it.

  4. It's a great tune isn't it? My fave line - "Ma'am I am tonight!"

  5. Love singing this song VERY loud in the car when nobody is around. Great song.

  6. Agreed! It is definitely in my top 5 songs list for belting out in the car.
